Morocco's Camil Belmrah set a new Open Men's Slalom record at the All Africa Championships to win a gold medal.

Coming into the All Africa Championships, Morocco was one of three nations competing only in the slalom event.

This was due to a lack of waterskiing courses and facilities to train in the jump and tricks events.

As a result, they did not compete in the overall standings, which determine the champions and runners-up in development skiing.

However, Morocco performed well in the Men's Open Slalom.

Camil Belmrah set a new slalom record, earning the gold medal.

Morne Mosterte, a judge, said Belmrah's achievement was notable, given the complexity and dimensions of the course.

Gerald Rottcher, a retired Namibian skier, said breaking a slalom record is difficult and noted the performance at the All Africa Championships.

Lucas Aoublaid finished third behind South Africa's Jason Stegmann.

He said he was satisfied with his performance at the competition.

The All Africa Championships concluded on Sunday at Von Bach Dam after taking place from 4-5 April.
