The management and organisers of the Bank Windhoek NVF Doc Tournament have expressed satisfaction with the hosting of the 42nd edition of the volleyball competition at the MTC Dome in Swakopmund.

The tournament, which has been running for over four decades, continues to grow, with Bank Windhoek sponsoring the event for the past 15 years.

This year's edition attracted 23 men's teams and 16 women's teams, including international participants from Zambia.

Tournament Director Elia Muremi said the competition remains one of the key events on the Namibia Volleyball Federation calendar, highlighting the importance of international participation.

Muremi added that the inclusion of Zambia's Green Buffaloes team brought valuable competition and learning opportunities, as both the men's and women's teams from the club were crowned champions.

Meanwhile, Volleyball Namibia Secretary General Festus Hamukwaya described the event as a success, noting an increase in participation compared to last year.

Hamukwaya revealed that a total of 65 matches were played over the weekend, with the number of teams increasing by ten from the previous edition.

He said the level of competition reflects the growth of volleyball in Namibia.

Despite strong challenges from the visiting Zambian side, Hamukwaya said Namibian teams showed resilience and competitiveness throughout the tournament.

Both officials extended their appreciation to the sponsors, supporters, and the MTC Dome for hosting the event, reaffirming their commitment to developing volleyball in the country.
