The newly elected Windhoek City Council recently conducted an induction and familiarisation visit to the City Police headquarters to gain firsthand insight into city operations and service delivery.

Windhoek Mayor Sakaria Uunona emphasised the need to build trust and teamwork between the City Council and City Police to ensure effective governance and community security.

“If there is no trust, then how can the community trust us? We need to close that gap and create trust, harnessed towards residents, so they feel safe wherever they are. Without residents, there is no city police,” Uunona said.

He urged fellow councillors to take their mandate seriously and act responsibly within the law and code of conduct. “We represent the institution and our titles; we must act diligently in all that we do,” he added.
