The Governor of Hardap, Riaan McNab, has urged regional political and administrative leadership to prioritise economic development for the betterment of communities they serve.

He made the call while addressing the Hardap Regional Council meeting.

Government agencies and ministries' regional heads as well as administrative heads of local authorities and the regional council also attended the regional council meeting.

The governor further emphasised the importance of good governance and effective and efficient service delivery.

He reminded the regional leadership to continuously reflect on whether actions, priorities, and commitment aligned with the communities' needs and expectations.

McNab highlighted responsibility requires visible leadership.

"Our biggest challenge will come when people of this region feel excluded, when they feel the government does not belong to them. When they feel they are not part and parcel of their government. When institutions become not customer-friendly to those they serve, if there is a volatile environment in any of our offices, now is the time to change that environment to become customer-friendly. Because we will not do all the things at the same time, but it is how we make people feel that will leave a lasting mark and impression."

Governor McNab also called for collaboration, discipline and commitment from all heads of institutions in the region in driving socio-economic development.

He directed that quarterly report development progress be submitted to his office in a timely manner, which will subsequently be forwarded to the President's Office.
