The majority of schools in the northern part of the country are in a poor state of repair.

This is the observation of CatchNet Marine's chairperson, Leonard Shiyuka, who on Friday handed over a renovated block of classrooms to Lukas I. Dama Primary School in the Omusati Region.

Apart from a block of six classrooms, the fishing company also donated school uniforms and a laptop.

CatchNet also replaced windows on four blocks and tiled three classrooms. 

"I am pleased to be part of this small contribution that one could possibly make to our young learners. We believe that investing in these classrooms is a direct investment in the dreams of these children, and we hope that this learning environment will inspire the hard work and good ideas for these kids," said Shiyuka. 

The school welcomed the donation.

School representative Asteria Armas expressed gratitude for the upgrades, noting the immediate material impact on the student body. "The newly renovated classrooms will provide a safe, cleaner, and welcoming place for our learners," Armas said. "The uniforms will restore the dignity and confidence of many learners, while the computer will enhance teaching and learning by giving us access to essential technology."

Speaking on behalf of the student body, learner Tuure Kaholongo thanked the fishing company for its civic intervention. "Thank you for voluntarily painting one of our classroom blocks, tiling our classrooms, and replacing broken windows," Kaholongo said. "You did all of this to give back to your community, and we truly appreciate your kindness and generosity."
