The Namibia-USA Teacher Exchange Programme has been described as a success in providing valuable international exposure and professional development opportunities for teachers and students.

The programme will strengthen educational partnerships between the two countries while exposing more teachers and students to innovative teaching practices and cross-cultural learning experiences.

Since its launch in 2023, the programme has expanded beyond the Khomas Region.

This year, six teachers from the Ohangwena Region and participants from the United States' Pacific Lutheran University took part in the exchange.

In total, 14 teachers and educators have benefited from the programme.

The programme's initiator, Janet Weiss, said the exchange plays a vital role in promoting the sharing of knowledge.

A teacher at Eenhana Primary School and one of the programme's beneficiaries, Andreheid Ashiyana, described the exchange as an important initiative.

A student from the United States and a beneficiary of the programme, Emily King, called for increased funding to sustain the initiative.
