The Eastern and Southern African Management Institute (ESAMI) has launched its Namibia Alumni Association, creating a platform for former students to reconnect, build professional networks and contribute to the country's development.
The institution focuses on developing managers and leaders across Africa.
The association brought together ESAMI graduates from different sectors, including government, public institutions and the private sector.
The minister of Gender Equality and Child Welfare, Emma Kantema, testified that joining the Alumni Association changed her life for the better by opening doors with her Master of Business Administration (MBA).
"My journey began with his family a while ago. I've had some intake 35 when Ms. Susan Temer was introducing herself. She says she's from intake 17. I was from the intake of the 16. Intake 16 was years ago. And I have to really indicate at this point that that was one of the 10 moments for me in my lifetime and also in my career. Doing and pursuing this MBA has really opened doors for me. It has carried me to the ranks of where I am today."
ESAMI business school's director, Professor Joseph Mumba, says the association will provide alumni with opportunities to reconnect with former classmates, engage with ESAMI staff and interact with stakeholders and prospective students.
Mumba mentioned that ESAMI has a long history in Namibia.
"The ESAMI is owned by 10 member governments, including Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda, Malawi, Mozambique, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Eswatini and, of course, the Seychelles and Namibia, where we are today. So we are; the mandate is to help governments build capacity, you know, so that we make public service efficient and safe delivery efficient across the various sectors of government."
The institute operates in several cities across the region and offers programmes including MBAs, doctoral qualifications, postgraduate diplomas, certificates and executive training courses.
The programmes cover areas such as business administration, project management, human resources, transport and logistics, customs management, procurement and supply chain management.
