The Namibia Gospel Music Awards have returned for their third edition, bringing together gospel artists and music lovers for an evening of praise, worship and celebration.
The awards, which return after a seven-year break, recognise excellence and contribution to Namibia's gospel music industry across ten categories.
The categories include Gospel Song of the Year, Worship Song of the Year, Best New Gospel Artist, Best Female and Male Gospel Artist, Best Gospel Collaboration, Best Gospel Video, Best Gospel Rap, Best Gospel Kwaito, and Praise Song of the Year.
Udоchi Nwagboso won Worship Song of the Year and was also named Best Female Gospel Artist.
Minister Natalia took Best Gospel Kwaito, while Sakeus Lala was named Best Male Gospel Artist.
Ben Khu Ayanda was named Best New Gospel Artist, while Amon & Jay took home Praise Song of the Year.
Dee'A won Best Gospel Rap, with Patrik Sikiliza receiving Gospel Song of the Year.
Effy won Best Gospel Video, while the Hallelujah Singout Crew was recognised for Best Gospel Collaboration.
The Chairperson of the awards organisation, Shalongo Mwandingi, said the return of the awards is an opportunity to give gospel artists the recognition and platform they deserve.
“What actually motivates me – you must understand that gospel is beyond celebrations. The gospel is about healing, the gospel is about restoration, and the gospel is about peace, and that's why we are here, and we are celebrating the message of peace from Jesus Christ.”
The evening featured gospel performances, with artists using the platform to celebrate their faith while showcasing the diversity of Namibia's gospel music scene.
The organisers said the awards are also aimed at creating greater visibility for gospel musicians and encouraged them to continue to grow within the local industry.
The third edition marks the return of an event that previously provided a platform for artists to celebrate their achievements and connect with audiences through gospel music.
