Namibia's senior women's indoor hockey team is intensifying preparations ahead of a three-match test series against South Africa, scheduled to take place in Windhoek from 9 to 11 October.

Head coach Shayne Cormack says the series will provide an important measure of the team's progress as Namibia continues to build on its historic sixth-place finish at the 2025 FIH Indoor Hockey World Cup in Croatia.

The upcoming encounters against familiar regional rivals will offer the side another valuable opportunity to test itself against international opposition.

As part of their training regime in Windhoek, the senior women competed in a practice match against the Under-20 boys to expose the squad to greater pace and physical pressure.

Cormack highlighted that the training program is helping the coaching staff assess physical and tactical readiness ahead of the opening fixture, noting that the match against the junior boys provided the necessary intensity expected from South Africa.

Team captain Sunelle Ludwig will once again lead the squad, aiming to translate their growing international experience into consistent performances on the court.

Ludwig expressed pride in leading the team, emphasizing that maintaining focus, mutual trust, and team cohesion will be essential to putting in strong performances against a tough South African side.

Beyond the immediate test series, the three-match encounter also forms a crucial part of Namibia's broader preparations for the upcoming Nkosi Cup in South Africa, giving the technical staff a platform to refine combinations and evaluate match readiness ahead of future international assignments.
