The National Solidarity Campaign for Cuba has collected three million dollars so far, and organisers are intensifying fundraising efforts to provide medical supplies and solar power kits to Cuban health centres.
The campaign, coordinated by the National Solidarity Committee, has already purchased medical supplies worth N$650,000 in August to arrive in December.
Launched in April this year by a group of Namibians, the initiative aims to raise awareness on Cuba's historical support for Namibia and mobilise resources for humanitarian purposes.
Regional mobilisation meetings generated nearly N$700,000.
"The campaign will continue throughout November 2026 to mobilise additional contributions and collect outstanding pledges to support this objective. Appeal. We extend our sincere gratitude to everyone who has contributed to the campaign. Out
The campaign still requires N$3,6 million to purchase and ship 140 cubic feet of solar power kits.
"It is not too late to contribute. Every donation counts, and no amount is too small. Together, let us continue to demonstrate Namibia's solidarity with the people of Cuba. Cuba is not alone. Cuba is not a threat to international peace and security. Out," stated Chairperson of the National Solidarity with Cuba Campaign, Helmut Angula.
The campaign is also receiving support through Art for Cuba - a fundraising exhibition and series of cultural events hosted by Bauhaus Atelier and Galerie in Windhoek.
Its founder, Marcii Magson, said the gallery had opened its doors to the initiative.
Art for Cuba is scheduled to run from 26 to 30 of this month, bringing together artists, poets, musicians and the public to raise awareness and funds for the campaign.
"This is not just a gallery selling art. This is a nation answering a friend. We stand together with Cuba, and we have created a platform where every Namibian can make a difference."
Proceeds from artwork sales, event tickets and donations will go towards the cause.
The campaign has called on the US government to lift its economic, commercial and financial embargo against Cuba, a UN General Assembly resolution calling for an end to the restrictions.
