Early childhood education in Rehoboth has received a boost following the handover of the Northside Early Childhood Development Centre.
The centre comprises two classrooms, each with a storeroom and ablution facilities.
The project was made possible through funding from MTC and Interteam Namibia, with Development Workshop Namibia serving as the infrastructure partner.
The Executive Director of Development Workshop Namibia, Ester Veiko, said the project is a shared investment in the future of children.
"At Development Workshop Namibia, we believe that every child deserves the opportunity to go, learn, pray and develop in a safe and supportive environment irregardless of their family's background."
The Deputy Director of Interteam Namibia, Brigithe ||Oases urged parents to play an active role in their children's education.
"We believe building is more than just bricks and water; it's just a facility which is there – but it's an investment, you know, for future generations, for more children to benefit from this. The community benefits from this building, and more buildings are to be established alongside this one."
MTC Chief Brand, Marketing, Communications and Sustainability Officer, Tim Ekandjo, called for collective efforts for community development.
"It is my wish that we are able to refocus and unite as Namibians, and that everything else must come last. Our tribes must come last; our different allegiances must come last. The only focus must be what is good for Namibia."
Hardap Governor Riaan McNab pointed out that early childhood development is an essential foundation for a child's education.
"We are bringing together two important stages of a child's educational journey, but the first step into structured learning and continued development of knowledge and skills through primary education."
The centre will support children's development and prepare them for the transition to pre-primary and primary school.
