The late former First Lady Penehupifo Pohamba is remembered for her humility, compassion and dedication to helping the vulnerable.
The Organisation for the Empowerment of Widows/Widowers and Orphans of HIV and AIDS (OEWENA)'s Zambezi Regional Head, Patricia Nalisa-Siska, has highlighted how Pohamba treated everyone with dignity, regardless of their status, and left behind a legacy of service and kindness.
Nalisa-Siska said she first met Pohamba during the tenure of her husband, former President Hifikepunye Pohamba. Their relationship continued over the years, with the former first lady later asking her to represent and lead OEWENA in the Zambezi Region.
Nalisa-Siska who is also a former MP, stated that she gladly accepted the responsibility, as supporting vulnerable members of society through charitable work had always been close to her heart.
Nalisa-Siska, who owned Millennium Guest House in Katima Mulilo, recalls how Pohamba would insist on supporting her business whenever she travelled to the town.
She also acknowledges the responsibility of preserving the former First Lady's legacy by ensuring that OEWENA's work continues.
Nalisa-Siska extended her condolences to the Pohamba family and the nation.
