US President Donald Trump blamed the midterm elections for a reported three trillion USD wipeout in US stock market value on Friday, joking that the plunge suggested his political opponents performed well.
"They smashed all expectations. The job numbers are through the roof. The United States just added 165,000 jobs in October. They thought the number would be maybe around 20, slightly more. I told them, including 19,000 brand-new manufacturing jobs, the largest one-month increase in manufacturing jobs in many, many decades. And despite the, thank you, despite the $3 trillion lost yesterday, you know, our country lost $3 trillion all because of an election. I wonder what that means. If we would have gained $3 trillion, I probably would have been more unhappy. But you know what that means? That means that they thought somebody else did well in an election."
