The Minister of Works and Transport, John Mutorwa is satisfied with the progress made with the upgrades on the Charlie Cutline District Road, located some 70km west of Rundu.

John Mutorwa reiterated that the development of rural roads is a crucial undertaking towards the socio-economic transformation of rural villages.

The construction of the first phase of the road covering a distance of 40km commenced in June this year and is expected to be completed in December.

Mutorwa described the Charlie Cutline district road as very important as it connects the two Kavango regions to Oshikoto and Ohangwena.

He believes that the construction of the said road will promote interregional trade and that such a move will transform the lives of the people who are living in rural areas.

Mutorwa says that continued investment in roads plays an important role in stimulating economic growth and job creation.

The road improvement works of the project will be divided into three phases, with the first phase covering a distance of 40km, the second phase 50km and the remaining phase of 48km , which ends at Helavi in the Ohangwena Region.
