The sight of young children from Angola selling various wooden items in the streets of Oshakati and Ongwediva is worrisome as their parents are accused of forcing them to sell and beg for food and money on the streets at a young age.

They say they are fighting for survival in Namibia as life in their country has allegedly become hard with high unemployment rates.

They have also started charging locals for taking pictures or videos of them for as little as five dollars.

Oshana regional police commander Commissioner Naftal Sackaria says police are worried about the increase in child labour cases and that there is an urgent need for both police and immigration officials to launch a joint patrol to ensure that any illegal immigrant is deported to their respective countries.
