Former nbc employee, Johanna Nanona Muatara has died, following a protracted battle with cancer.

The 73-year-old Mwatara, or Aunty Jo as she was affectionately known, died in a Windhoek hospital last Thursday.

The late Mwatara worked at the nbc from 1990 until her retirement, thirteen years ago.

One of her roles was as an indigenous language producer in the nbc Newsroom.  

She is survived by seven children.

A memorial service will be held in her honour on Friday at Katutura's Macedonia Parish and she will be buried on Saturday at the Pioneers Park Cemetary.
