Deputy Prime Minister Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah has paid her respects to the Topnaar community after they lost their chief in 2019.

The Deputy Prime Minister and her delegation visited the Topnaars at Utuseb, a settlement in the Namib Desert near Walvis Bay.

Nandi-Ndaitwah indicated that she had a close working relationship with the late Topnaar Chief Seth Kooitjie when she was the Minister of Environment and Tourism.

She said she was part of the team that awarded two concessions to the Topnaar community to benefit from tourism activities in the Dorob and Naukluft national parks.

Speaking through an interpreter, Acting Chief Stoffel Anamab indicated that the visit to Utuseb was not Nandi-Ndaitwahs' first and acknowledged her contributions to the Topnaar community.

Nandi-Ndaitwah donated food items to the Topnaar and proceeded to Walvis Bay, where she visited the grave of the late liberation struggle stalwart, Nathaniel Maxuilili.
