Contrary to media reports, the Swapo Party Youth League Secretary, Ephraim Nekongo, said the Seventh SPYL Congress was a success.
Nekongo said the congress not only focused on elections but also deliberated on issues of national importance and passed resolutions for implementation.
The Seventh Congress of the Swapo Party Youth League came up with 96 resolutions to be implemented over the next five years.
Economic recovery, education reform, sports, arts, and culture, social welfare for long-term development, equitable health care, international relations, the Fourth Industrial Revolution, green hydrogen, land, and housing are among them.
The SPYL's congress also resolved to amend and refer its constitution for ratification and adoption by the Swapo Party Congress in November, to ensure it is in line with that of the party.
The amendments, he explained, aim to eliminate possible contradictions between the two constitutions and ultimately expand the mandate of the SPYL to enable the party to effectively address issues affecting Namibians.
The wing's Central Committee also elected nine National Executive Committee members and 16 delegates to the November congress.
The SPYL Central Committee also nominated from its ranks four members as candidates to the Central Committee of the party.
