President Hage Geingob has achieved the intended objective of fostering closer ties with the international community, and Namibia's contribution is being heard on various bilateral and multilateral platforms.

This is contained in the statement by State House to recap Dr Geingob's nine-day official visits to Angola, the United Kingdom, and the United States of America.

En route to the United Nations General Assembly's 77th Session, President Geingob attended the swearing-in ceremony of Angolan President João Lourenço,

Lourenco was elected for a second term last month in a vote that saw the ruling MPLA retain power.

Press Secretary Alfredo Hengari says Dr Geingob's attendance was reciprocal, given that Lourenco also had to jet in to attend Geingob's swearing-in ceremony in 2020.

While in Luanda, Angola, President Geingob laid a wreath in honour of the late former President José Eduardo dos Santos at the António Agostinho Neto Memorial.

Geingob described the late Dos Santos as a consequential leader who made an outstanding contribution to the liberation of southern Africa, specifically Namibia. His presence at the final resting place is a testament to their friendship and the significance of Namibia-Angola bilateral cooperation.

The President then joined more than 120 world leaders for the funeral of Britain's longest-serving monarch, Queen Elizabeth II, at Westminster Abbey in London.

President Geingob represented Namibia as one of the Commonwealth countries.

On the sidelines of the funeral, President Geingob met with a team of Adam Global representatives, Professors Tahiri Akhtar, Rotimi Jaiyesimi, Anil Kumar of New Vision University in Tbilisi, and Paul Clark.

Adam Global is initiating a programme of training for medical doctors in Namibia.

A team of doctors in orthopaedics, maternity health, accident safety health, and eye health will visit Namibia to kick-start the training programme next year.

Adam Global has also pledged ten scholarships to Namibian students to study medicine at New Vision University in Georgia.

The Head of State then headed to New York for the 77th session of the UNGA, where more than 190 world leaders debated complex and interconnected crises and aimed to find joint solutions.
