The Namibian government has assured the Ministry of Defence and Veterans Affairs that it will receive the funds needed to enable it to carry out its duties without any hindrance.

Defence Deputy Minister Hilma Nicanor gave this guarantee during the arrival of the Navy Ship Elephant from Brazil.

The Navy Ship, Elephant, returned home from Brazil after partaking in that country's anniversary celebrations with 116 crew members.

The purpose of the exercise was to, among other things, conduct inter-operability exercises, multi-national forces training, combat doctrine, logistics, communications, and other matters of inter-forces interest.

Captain Simon Kombada, who navigated the ship through the deep blue Atlantic Ocean to the Pacific Ocean's shore, says they completed their mission with bravery and success.

The Navy Commander, Rear Admiral Paulus Amungulu, says the crew encountered some mechanical challenges that could have had detrimental effects on their mission.

However, due to the advanced technical skills of the crew, they prevailed.

Also speaking at the event was the Chief of the Namibian Defence Force, Air Marshal Martin Pinehas, who applauded the crew for a successful mission.
