President Geingob cautions against ill-discipline

President Hage Geingob has cautioned against ill-discipline in the Namibian Defence Force (NDF), saying such incidents need to be addressed as soon as they occur.

''Discipline is the catalyst for professionalism. It is the soul of the Defence Force. I am informed that there are several cases of indiscipline being reported in the Namibian Defence Force. Some of these cases have appeared in the media. It is imperative that we summarily nip these type of incidences in the bud.''

Venaani urges GRN to address the struggle kids plight

PDM leader McHenry Venaani says the recent actions by the children of the liberation struggle have the potential to pose a security threat, urging the government to urgently address their plight.

The call comes after a group of Struggle Kids recently blocked entry to the Ministry of Defense and locked offices with chains.

Many of the Struggle Kids are now grown up, but as orphans, their parents died as a consequence of the pre-independence fights.

Over the years, they have staged many protests, calling on the government to give them jobs.

Defence and Veterans Affairs Ministry assured to carry out duties without hindrance

The Namibian government has assured the Ministry of Defence and Veterans Affairs that it will receive the funds needed to enable it to carry out its duties without any hindrance.

Defence Deputy Minister Hilma Nicanor gave this guarantee during the arrival of the Navy Ship Elephant from Brazil.

The Navy Ship, Elephant, returned home from Brazil after partaking in that country's anniversary celebrations with 116 crew members.
