Capricorn Group and Bank Windhoek employees donated year-long sanitary pads to fifty underprivileged young girls in honor of the International Day of the Girl Child.

The day also highlighted the challenges a girl child faces in education, hygiene, and their daily lives.

Grace Luvindao is the Communication and Stakeholder Engagement Manager at Capricorn Group. "As the Capricon Group, we are looking at ways to give back to our community, not only to give back as an organisation but to make sure our employees are part of the process. We call them changemakers. The reason we decided to support young girls today is that it is the International Day of the Girl Child. "

The girls were treated to a meal, entertainment, games, and motivational talks.

Second runner-up of Miss Namibia, Diana Andimba, through her foundation Diana's Heartbeat, has been donating sanitary pads to learners.

Andimba wishes for a day when sanitary pads will be freely made available, especially for the girls' children that cannot afford them. "I understand that the government has tried to make sanitary pads tax-free, but that is not enough. I want it to come to a point where we see condoms everywhere."
