Former Vice-Chancellor of the Namibia University of Science and Technology, Dr Tjama Tjivikua, has called for the establishment of more educational institutions as space remains a challenge for learners every year.

Dr Tjivikua made the call at the launch of the centennial celebrations of St. Barnabas Primary School.

Established 99 years ago, St. Barnabas Primary School in Katutura is striving to uphold its academic excellence in primary education through quality services and programs.

The school has produced the likes of prominent leaders, which include the Speaker of the National Assembly, Professor Peter Katjavivi, Founding President Sam Nujoma, the late veteran politician, Professor Mburumba Kerina, as well as Dr Tjivikua, amongst others.

Dr Tjivikua  who started grade one in 1966 at the school, which was then located in the Old Location, narrated how the school birthed successful leaders in different professions

The school currently needs a sports field and renovations to classrooms.

However, a lack of financial resources is a challenge, hence the need to raise funds.
