Founding President Sam Nujoma says the Olufuko Festival remains a crucial tool for the preservation of culture for young girls.

The Patron of Olufuko made the remarks during the official opening of the cultural festival underway at Outapi.

Nujoma added that the festival is a sign of excellence and serves as a platform to educate the nation about cultural values, norms, and heritages.

The Olufuko Patron dismissed the talk that the cultural festival promotes early childhood marriages.

Commissioner Christopher Nakanyala buried

The late Police Attaché to South Africa, Commissioner Christopher Nakanyala was buried at Uuyoka-Omulondo in the Oshikoto Region. 

The 59-year-old Nakanyala died in Pretoria last week.  


Nakanyala left Namibia into exile in 1976, the same year the joined the People Liberation Army of Namibia (PLAN).

In 1977 received his first military training at Tobias Hainyeko training center in Lubango Angola.

China to continue supporting Namibia's development- Weiping

China's new Ambassador to Namibia, Zhao Weiping, says China will continue supporting Namibia's social and economic development through the expansion of bilateral cooperation in extensive areas.

He remarked on this during his introductory ceremony in Windhoek.

The event was attended, among others, by Founding President Sam Nujoma, government officials, and prominent businesspeople.

Ambassador Weiping sympathized with families who lost loved ones and property during the recent floods in northern Namibia.

Project Never Walk Alone raises N$3 million

Project Never Walk Alone has, through its Great 50 Pledge initiative, honored President Hage Geingob, Former President Hifikepunye Pohamba, and Founding President Sam Nujoma.

The project raised over N$3 million through a dinner attended by business leaders and philanthropists to continue its work in ensuring that no Namibian child goes to school barefoot.

The recipients of the Great 50 award were selected by the Project Never Walk Alone team and included former First Lady Penehupifo Pohamba and First Lady Monica Geingos.

St. Barnabas Primary School launches centennial celebrations
