The Otjozondjupa region is approximately 90 percent ready to host the regional memorial for founding President Sam Nujoma in Grootfontein on Monday.

Governor James Uerikua stated that the only remaining task for the day of the memorial will be decorating the venue.

Three tents will accommodate up to 4,600 mourners, and seven speakers are scheduled to ensure the program stays within the planned timeframe.

"The Otjozondjupa region is indeed prepared to host this significant event. We are collaborating closely with the Omaheke and Oshikoto regions. The governors of these two regions are fully engaged in coordination and participation. We have also communicated with retired generals who are involved, as they were commanded by the late President Dr. Sam Shafishuna Nujoma."

The Namibian Defense Force, Police, and National Youth Service, along with state security, will ensure safety and security during the event.

"As a nation, we must show the utmost respect. This means we should prioritize safety and security on our part. Attendees are advised not to bring any weapons, as security forces will oversee entry. There will be searches conducted for both males and females to ensure everything is secure. Additionally, we expect attendees to maintain a respectful noise level to help us finish on time."

Transport has been arranged for residents from Grootfontein's seven constituencies to the venue.

Governor Uerikua emphasized that bars and shebeens will remain closed to prevent unruly behavior, and local vendors have been instructed to maintain order during the service.

The program is set to begin at 14:00 at the Omulunga Stadium.
