Prime Minister Elijah Ngurare is in Grootfontein to assess the cholera situation as the outbreak threatens the town, especially its informal settlements.
To help mitigate the spread of the cholera outbreak in Grootfontein, its municipality has started providing water at different points as they look at addressing sanitation.
This was confirmed by Grootfontein mayor Moritz Gaingob during a briefing with Otjozondjupa Governor John ||Khamuseb.
The Ministry of Health and Social Services has announced 32 confirmed cholera cases in the Grootfontein District as of 12 January. Of 99 suspected cases, 32 were confirmed, with zero deaths recorded.
Otjozondjupa police are calling on the public to help identify a female murder suspect captured on CCTV walking with a male victim minutes before the killing.
Otjozondjupa Health Director Gerbhado Timotheus has expressed concern over the increase in cholera cases at Grootfontein, with 22 positive cases confirmed.
