
The police in ||Kharas Region are intensifying efforts to ensure a safe and crime-free holiday for both residents and visitors across the region.
Speaking to nbc News, Regional Police Crime and Investigations Coordinator Nicodemus Mbango said a zero-tolerance approach will be adopted towards all sorts of unlawful activities across the region.
Deputy Commissioner Mbango noted that a roadblock on the B1 highway outside Keetmanshoop has been operationalised since Monday, with officers also deployed on foot patrols.
He reported one suspect was arrested in connection with the timber confiscation and added that more than three people were also arrested on drug-related charges.
Mbango furthermore cautioned the public that anyone caught drinking in public will also face the full wrath of the law.
Mbango reminded motorists to obey speed limits and to desist from drinking and driving.
He encouraged the residents planning to travel and leave their homes to inform the police so those areas can be included in routine patrols.
