The public, particularly residents of Karibib, have been urged to assist the police in successfully apprehending whoever is responsible for the murder of Adrian Oswyn.

The six-year-old, killed in a horrific fashion at Karibib, was buried at the Alpha Omega Lutheran church this Saturday.

The clergymen were under strict instructions from the Namibian Police Forensic Unit to keep the service as short as possible as 50% of Oswyn's cut-up body parts were found, discarded and decomposed, at the town's sewage dam.

While the manner in which the crime was carried out left the nation in shock, no one has been arrested to date, though police investigations continue.

Speakers at the burial, while conveying messages of condolence, urged anyone with information that can assist the police to come forward.

"If you know anything, if you have seen anything, if you have heard anything, please let us not spread rumors, but rather communicate with the police because it is their responsibility, they are the experts," urged Karibib Mayor, Davey van Wyk.

"Let us give them the information they need. Oswyn, in his last moments, probably trusted whoever did this to him. He was probably under the impression that whoever took him was taking him home to his mother's house," said Sikiza Geiseb, a member of the community.

On behalf of her family, First Lady Monica Geingos showed support to the mother of the late Oswyn.

Her message of condolence was read on her behalf by the Karibib Constituency councillor, Melani Ndjago.

"No parent is the same after losing a child. You and your family will never be the same after losing Adrian Myne Oswyn, particularly in the way he lost his life. In a way, Adrian's story is now ours. This is our collective grief to bear as a family, a community, and as a nation. We cannot look at what happened to Adrian and look away."

At the end of the church service, Oswyn's teacher did the final roll call, while at the graveyard, his mother struggled to say her final farewell to her son, who innocently lost his life.

Oswyn's story is a stark reminder of the death of 9-year-old Avihe Cheryl Ujahaa in 2018.

Killed in a similar fashion, some of her body parts were found buried while some organs remain unaccounted for to this day.

Police maintain that Avihe's case remains an open investigation, as it now is the painful death of Adrian Myne Oswyn.
