A number of people were arrested after they were found in possession of drugs in Swakopmund, Erongo Region, during police operations.

All the suspects were arrested in the Mondesa suburb.

A 28-year-old Congolese woman with refugee status was detained in Tamariskia after she was found with seven bankies of crystal meth, 11 dosages of cocaine powder, and six kilograms of cannabis, all worth N$31,000.

The defendant, who faces charges of dealing as well as additional counts of possessing crystal meth, cocaine powder, and cannabis, will appear in court on Monday in Swakopmund.

The police also detained a 35-year-old male near Eshikwambi Street in Tulinawa, Swakopmund, after they found three large bundles of cannabis skunk totaling 713 grams with an estimated worth of more than N$35,000 in his possession.

In addition to being accused of trafficking, the suspect was also accused of possessing marijuana. 

Another 693 grams of cannabis skunk and 72 whole, half, and loose bits of Mandrax tablets with an estimated value of more than N$43,000 were found on a 31-year-old male. 

The suspect was charged with dealing and an alternative count of possession of cannabis.

He will appear in the Swakopmund Magistrate's Court on Monday.
