Three candidates vying for the Swapo Party  Vice-President position have wrapped up their internal campaigns at Mariental after a closed-door meeting with delegates from Hardap Region.

nbc-News caught up with two of the party's candidates to give their overall impression on their campaigns in all 14 regions.

Swapo Party Vice-Presidency Candidate, Pohamba Shifeta said the engagement went well. "Today is a very historic day because we have completed our engagements in all 14 regions, we have met with some shortcomings, but it's  human to have those shortcomings, we learned from those mistakes that we have encountered, therefore, in the future we would be able to apply some remedies to ensure that we don't repeat them, especially maintaining unity in our Swapo Party membership, that is more important, it is important because we want to emerge from the congress united, as a united force because you know, united force cannot be defeated by any force."

Pohamba further noted that he did not practice slate politicking during his campaign trail, as resolved at the recent party congress.

"I have been preaching this, we learned from those mistakes we have committed, it is human to commit a mistake or to error, but to repeat the same mistake, thinking you will get different results it is not wise, let's avoid violating our resolutions taken at the introspection conference, the resolutions are clear, we must do away with teams and that's why I am here as a candidate of Swapo, not as a team candidate, because we have learned from the lesson, now that's water under the bridge."

On her part, Swapo Party Vice-President Candidate, Saara Kuugongelwa-Amadhila  said the engagements were very robust in the ||Kharas and Hardap regions as well as the other regions that they have been too."I have gained a lot of insights from the engagements with the comrades, I was also inspired by the  overwhelming support that I have received from them, I am motivated to work harder and am very optimistic that my comrades are going to  entrust me with the position of Vice-President of our party come the next congress."

Attempts to get a comment from candidate Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah proved unsuccessful.
