The Ombara of the Hoveka Traditional Authority has called on communities to turn commemoration events into platforms that foster unity and promote education and agricultural development activities.
Ombara Turimuro Hoveka said this during the 55th Annual Commemoration day of the Hoveka Traditional Authority at Omaueuozonjanda.
Speaking to nbc News on the sidelines of the annual event, Ombara Turimuro Hoveka stressed that the late predecessor Nicanor Hoveka and other heroes and heroines of the Hoveka family played an instrumental role during the colonial era under the Chieftaincy of the late Hosea Kutako to ensure that communities are involved in agriculture activities and receive an education.
Ombara Hoveka maintained that they will continue to honor the legacy left by their forefathers.
"Our family has come a long way in advancing development agenda amongst communities and up to now we're very much involved, especially in the education sector you can even take Epukiro Secondary School, Omuhaturua Primary School, and others and it's not late let's developed Epukiro altogether."
However, Hoveka also reminded communities about the importance of preserving their culture and traditional values.
