MTC and Otjiwarongo Municipality will collaborate on enhancing public service delivery through innovative digital solutions.

The two entities signed an agreement to effect the strategic cooperation. The agreement includes supporting smart metering, improving efficiency and transparency of service delivery, and improving and aligning processes and systems.

It also includes transforming local government transaction services and enhancing data-driven business processes.

The Managing Director of MTC Dr Licky Erastus during the signing event emphasized the importance of partnership, innovation, and technology in improving public service.

"It's good to sign the MOU but we need to hold ourselves accountable towards achievable objectives and milestones. We need to be brutally honest."

The MoU further aims to better access to and management of information, enhancing citizens' trust and supporting and nurturing local digital innovation and solutions.

The Chief Executive Officer of Otjiwarongo Municipality Moses Matyayi says Namibia needs to fully embrace and leverage the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

"And for us, the scope is too wide and we are going to take it step by step and this will enable us to also achieve our mission."
