Namibia has been invited to partner with Zimbabwe and erect a monument at the complex where the Museum of African Liberation is being constructed in Zimbabwe.
President Emmerson Mnangagwa's special envoy, Simbarashe Mumbengegwi, delivered a letter in this regard to President Hage Geingob at State House.
The Museum of African Liberation, a brainchild of the Zimbabwean government, and a number of other African countries have indicated their willingness to partner on the project already.
The concept arose from the need to document the struggle for freedom against colonialism across the continent.
Zimbabwe reckons that this documentation of the history of the liberation struggle would not be complete without Namibia and its governing party.
President Geingob will meet with Cabinet and the Swapo Party to discuss the proposal.
The Museum of African Liberation is under construction in the capital, Harare, and is expected to house monuments, parks, and other facilities of educational and cultural significance to Africa.
The Zimbabwean government has allocated one acre of land to Namibia, should it agree to erect a monument.
The Zimbabwe-based Institute of African Knowledge is spearheading the project on behalf of its government.
