Prominent defense lawyer Kadhila Amoomo has reacted to the appeal judgment by the Supreme Court, the nation's highest court, which has set aside the decision by the Windhoek High Court that granted bail to Fishrot accused Ricardo Gustavo.

Amoomo says, "The Supreme Court conflated the analysis on bail principles with the merits of the case. The presiding officer erroneously took the opportunity to send out a message on the seriousness of corruption in society. This is not the purpose of bail inquiries. The purpose of bail is to determine whether or not it is in the interests of justice to grant bail."

The High Court has ordered that Gustavo report himself to the Windhoek Correctional Facility.
