Namibia and Botswana are expected to unveil the one-stop border post at the Mamuno-Trans Kalahari Border Post soon, which will operate on a 24-hour basis.

The need to finalize the necessary work and operationalize the border post into a one-stop shop was emphasized during the one-day working visit of Botswana's President Mokgweetsi Masisi to Namibia on Sunday, on invitation by President Hage Geingob.

Namibia and Botswana agreed to establish the one-stop border posts at Mamuno and Trans-Kalahari Border Posts during the inaugural session of the Bi-National Commission chaired by Dr. Geingob and Masisi last year.

The one-stop border post is meant to improve trade and the movement of goods and services between the two countries, and the respective implementing agencies were directed to fast-track the construction of necessary infrastructure.

The two governments are confident that the modernized Trans-Kalahari-Mamuno border post and the one-stop border post at the Kazungula Bridge will maximize the operational efficiency of the SADC transport development corridors.

Namibia's Minister of International Relations and Cooperation says progress reports are expected to be provided to Presidents Geingob and Masisi on implementation.

Transport and logistics are not the only areas that the two countries are considering boosting their relations in.

Details on the implementation plan of the upgraded one-stop border post are yet to be announced.
