Learners in the Berseba Constituency can now walk with shoes on their feet, thanks to a donation from the constituency office, sought through support from the private company Firmaro Fishing.

Berseba Constituency Regional Councillor Jeremias Goeieman said during the handover that the new shoes would help restore beneficiaries' dignity.

Learners of Kaitsi!Gubeb, Bethanie Primary School and Klein Vaalgras Primary School all benefited from the donation.

Each school received 20 pairs of school shoes, valued at N$15 000.

The Berseba Constituency Regional Councilor, Jeremias Goeiema said the constituency is riddled with unemployment, poverty and hunger, and thus some parents and guardians are not in a position to assist their children with basic school needs, hence this donation of school shoes comes in handy for their vulnerable children. The ideal should have been that every single learner at their school wears the correct school shoes to school, however, adding that this is a distant dream in which they find themselves.

Goeieman urged the principals of schools benefitting, to ensure that the most vulnerable learners benefit from the donation.
