Drikus Coetzee and Risa Dreyer claimed the Nedbank Cycle Challenge 100km titles in the capital on Sunday.
The 37th edition of the Cycle Challenge attracted a record number of entries in the 20,30 60 and 100km races with young and old turning up for a day filled with not only serious racing, but also fun and laughter.
In the men's 100km race the trio of Drikus, Coetzee and Konny Looser and Ingram Cuff breaking away from the pack at the Dan Viljoen road.
The three continued to dominate their lead on the Western ByPass up to Ellisenheim Bridge, but on their way back to the Van Eck Power Station, the pair of Coetzee and Looser asserted dominance racing heel on heel till the Finish in Independence Avenue.
It was a sprint finish for the two, but it was Coetzee who sealed a dominant victory on photo finish in 2h23:11 on, with Looser finishing second.
Cuff came in eight minutes later finishing in third place.
The women's event was wide open with the absence of Vera Looser, Melissa Hinz , Anri Krugel and Courtney Liebenberg who are were competing in the African championships in Accra, Ghana.
It was Risa Dreyer who took top honours completing the 03h:00:53 second with Belinda van Rhyn in second in 03h:01:45 and Nicola Fester crossing the line in third place in 03h:02:37seconds.
The 60km was won by Delsia Janen van Vuuren and Marco Thiel, while Nicole Suren and Richie Slamet scooped the 30km titles. Benyamen Philipus dominate the 2Okm race.

The Cycling have an action packed year ahead of them as they will once again be in action next week during the Tour de Windhoek event.
