Learners of St. Therese Secondary and Nowak Primary Schools at Tses Village in ||Kharas Region can now broaden their knowledge through reading books, thanks to a library donation.

Various international members of the Rotary Network funded the library housed in one of the Nowak Primary School classrooms.

A German couple, Barbara and Wolfgang Mathea, initiated the library project and sourced funding from fellow Rotarians.

Both retired teachers say they decided to invest in the country's education sector following their first vacation to Namibia in 1993.

Since 2017, they have been supporting the St. Theresia Secondary School with educational materials and offering teacher training courses when on vacation.

The inauguration of the library also saw the donation of mathematics and English textbooks for grades 4–7 to the Nowak Primary School by the German couple.

||Kharas Education Director Johannes ||Hoeseb, who witnessed the inauguration of the library, urged learners to make good use of it.

"I hope and trust that our political leadership, the Local Authority Councillors, will consider us having a building in town so that we can have computers and books in town for the children and keep them constructively busy so that they can get rid of excess energy."
