The University of Namibia (UNAM) commences its academic year, and students have been encouraged to take advantage of the resources provided by the institution to excel and uphold the institution's good reputation.
Vice Chancellor, Professor Kenneth Matengu pointed out, reputation is attributed to quality teaching, research and innovation amongst others.
UNAM has registered a total of over 23 000 students, of which more than 4 500 are first-time students.
This according to Vice Chancellor, Professor Kenneth Matengu is a marked improvement in first-time enrolment rates compared to both 2021 and 2022.
Professor Matengu stressed the need to commit to continuous improvement through local and International partnerships by constantly evaluating programs, research output, and outreach efforts to ensure that students, faculty, staff, and the wider community needs are met.
Students have also been warned against academic misconduct, and rather focus on talents that would develop the country.
Student representative Council's Vice President Pedro Muyoyeta, says the university is going through a systematic transformation and vowed to implement and address challenges faced by students.
Muyoyeta also assured to address the issue of historic student debt which stands at about N$100 million.
