University of Namibia's Ongwediva Campus celebrates graduation of over 900 students

Over 900 students graduated from the University of Namibia's Ongwediva Campus.

Higher Education, Technology, and Innovation Minister Itah Kandji-Murangi reminded the graduates to be conscious, as they are living in a globally competitive world where success is dependent on knowledge acquisition, application, innovation, and productivity.

Dr. Kandjii Murangi says UNAM has pumped into the market thousands of graduates sufficient to contribute to nation-building and its well-being.

Professor Matengu says palliative care is important and valuable

The University of Namibia's Vice Chancellor, Professor Kenneth Matengu, said palliative care is an important and valuable aspect of healthcare.

Professor Matengu emphasised this at the signing of two Memoranda of Understanding with the Hope Home-Based Healthcare Service and Dr. Jeketera-Khumalo Surgery.

Palliative care is specialised medical care for people living with a serious illness, such as cancer or heart failure.

UNAM graduates hopeful about bright future

New graduates from the UNAM campus at Katima Mulilo Campus are hopeful for a bright future. They are not deterred, they say, by the high unemployment rate.

More than 400 students graduated in the fields of health and natural sciences, as well as veterinary medicine, education, human resources, and agriculture.

Leon Munali, who received his Honors Degree, says he will look for employment while furthering his studies.

Lack of male role models contribute to boys underperforming in education

The Vice Chancellor of the University of Namibia Professor Kenneth Matengu pointed out that a lack of male role models is one of the contributing factors to boys underperforming in education.

Professor Matengu was speaking at the Rundu Campus graduation ceremony.

Of the more than 580 students who graduated from the School of Nursing, Education and Commerce at the Rundu Campus, 66% are female.

UNAM VC urges the Almuni Association to provide scholarships

The Vice Chancellor of the University of Namibia (UNAM), Professor Kenneth Matengu, wants the Alumni Association to provide scholarships to deserving students and improve campus facilities.

Professor Matengu said this during the launch of the UNAM Alumni Southern Chapter at Keetmanshoop in the ||Kharas Region.

The UNAM Southern Campus was recently inaugurated, and Professor Matengu says that the establishment of the Southern Chapter came at the right time as the university continues to expand its footprint in the region.

Namibia committed to widening access to institutions of higher learning- Mbumba

The Namibian government is committed to widening access to institutions of higher learning in the country.

This was said by Vice President Nangolo Mbumba when he inaugurated the University of Namibia's (UNAM) Southern Campus lecture hall complex at Keetmanshoop in the ||Kharas Region.

The government invested N$93 million for the first phase of the construction of the campus.

The construction of the complex, which consists of lecture halls, geoscience laboratories, and administration offices, started in 2016.

UNAM's academic year commences

The University of Namibia (UNAM) commences its academic year, and students have been encouraged to take advantage of the resources provided by the institution to excel and uphold the institution's good reputation.

 Vice Chancellor, Professor Kenneth Matengu pointed out, reputation is attributed to quality teaching, research and innovation amongst others.

 UNAM has registered a total of over 23 000 students, of which more than 4 500 are first-time students.

UNAM to implement revised curriculum in 2023

UNAM's Vice-Chancellor, Professor Kenneth Matengu, says this new curriculum requires collaboration with industry to provide students with the requisite experience and exposure to the real world of work.
