The Bank of Namibia (BoN) has awarded bursaries to nine undergraduate students to pursue their studies at various institutions of higher learning.
Over the past twenty years, the Central Bank has awarded bursaries for the development of human capacity and provided a helping hand to those from less privileged families.
"The Bank of Namibia's bursary program will continue to fulfill its commitment to support while also bringing hope that receiving one of these bursaries will inspire you to work harder and pave the way for your future. Keep in mind that the outcome of your study depends on your consistency, the development of good habits, and following them through deliberately and intentionally," said Ebson Uanguta, Deputy Governor of the Bank.
To date, the Bank of Namibia has awarded 183 bursaries, with 29 being undergraduates.
The selection process was difficult, as only nine of the 378 applications received were successful.
The bursary covers the student's tuition fees, textbooks, transportation, and accommodations, among others.
One of the former bursary holders who is currently employed by the bank, Veisiua Karuuombe, encouraged the latest beneficiaries to go the extra mile.
