The hopes of many crop farmers in the Ohangwena region for a successful harvest have been dashed due to floods from Angola that have partially submerged their mahangu fields.

The Prime Minister's office has classified the gruesome killing of six family members at Usakos as an emergency that needs the government's assistance.

Prime Minister Elijah Ngurare visited the family members who lost their loved ones in a tragic incident at Usakos.

The Ndonga Linena Green Scheme has become the first farm to harvest maize for the 2025 cropping season. 

With winter just around the corner, green schemes such as Sikondo in Kavango West are preparing to plant their winter crop starting this week.

Acting farm manager Maxwell Nghidinua says the seeds are ready, and 14 hectares are set aside to plant potatoes.

Donations have started trickling in for the two centres at Onamhinda A and B in the Ohangwena Region, where over 200 people have been temporarily relocated from their homes following heavy flooding.
