Steven Schneiders told the court that he attempted to take his own life after learning that his girlfriend and co-accused, Naomi Fisch, had suffered a miscarriage.

The Department of Immigration in Zambia has deported 48 Ethiopian nationals, while 19 have been convicted.

Among those deported are 39 Ethiopian nationals who were apprehended on 23rd November last year in Kapiri Mposhi District after being discovered concealed in a fuel tanker. 

The memorial service for veteran journalist and former Swapo Party Regional Councillor Erasmus Captain Hendjala will be held on Friday, 9 January, at Oinyikanyika-Olupandu in the Omusati Region.

Hendjala died in Ongwediva on January 2 at the age of 78.

Festive season policing in the Erongo Region has yielded positive results, with an overall decrease in crime.

While there have been some successes, Erongo Police Commander Nikolaus Kupembona noted that challenges still persist.

Swakopmund Mayor Suamma Kautondokwa has described the festive season as busy but successful, with the town once again proving to be a safe and welcoming tourist destination.
