Serious crimes surge by 114% during festive season

Namibia has recorded a sharp increase in serious crimes during the 2024/2025 festive season, with cases increasing by 114%. 

Between November and December 2025, reported criminal incidents climbed from 1,261 cases in the previous year to 2,702 cases.

Road fatalities up 20% as festive season deaths rise

Namibia recorded 488 road fatalities between 01 January and 14 December 2025, representing a 20% increase compared to the same period last year.

3,126 crashes were recorded, a 4.2% increase compared to the previous year. However, 5,111 injuries were reported, marking a 1.8% decline.
