2017 Old Mutual Victory Race launched

The 17th edition of the Old Mutual Victory Race - which is the biggest road running competition in the country - was officially launched at the Independence stadium in Windhoek this morning. The actual event, however, is scheduled to kick off at Oshakati on the 10th of June, with the Keetmanshoop leg happening on the 8th of July, Swakopmund on the 29th of July and Windhoek on the 21st of October. Old Mutual Executive Ndangi Katoma said Old Mutual commits itself to doing great things and being supportive of the community in which it operates. Through these initiatives, they would like to enable positive features for their customers, communities and stakeholder. Jo-Ann Manuel, as Deputy Director of Youth and Sport, spoke on behalf of the Minister at the event. “I’m informed that with the 17th edition of hosting the victory races, Old Mutual has invested more than 7 million Namibia dollars into promoting a healthy life style and to supporting the development of Namibia athletes,” she explained. There will be prize money for both the 21km and 5km events at each race. The overall winners will also receive an all-expenses paid trip to Cape Town to compete in the annual Two Oceans Marathon.
