2018/19 Namibia Premier League to kick off in November

Windhoek-The 2018/19 Namibia Premier League's much-anticipated season will officially kick off next weekend. This came to light at yesterday's Board of Governors meeting held in Windhoek. The Namibia Premier League's meeting held at Safari Hotel yesterday deliberated on the kick-off of the new season, which will run and conclude in the next seven months instead of the normal 10-month calendar. The meeting, which was attended by all Premier League teams including the three promoted teams in Young Brazilians, Julinho and Okahandja United, also discussed various issues concerning the league as the League's Chairman Patrick Kauta explained. “We decided to kick-off next weekend the 9th and the 10th of this month is the date. We are ready to get the ball rolling. We will be playing one match per weekend, and not a double headers “ Kauta said. On the letters addressed to the League by Young Chiefs and Tigers to penalise Young African for using a Zimbabwean player with a wrong identity as well the issue of Okahandja United's presence in the league, Kauta was very clear. “We handed it to our prosecutor. We admitted Okahandja United to our family” he added. It was also announced that the monthly grant of 65 thousand dollars to a team has been increased to 114 thousand per team to be used for the payment of the players and logistics.
