The African games will be used as qualifiers for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic games. Team Namibia will compete in 12 codes, namely Athletics, Archery, Boxing, Chess Cycling, Fencing Karate, Shooting, Swimming, Tennis, Beach Volleyball and Wrestling. Most athletes are currently in preparation according to the Chief Administrator of the Namibia Sports Commission, Freddy Mwiya. “We are very happy that this team has started their preparations already. In three weeks' time, the team members will be leaving for Rabat and some of the team members will be sent to “The Dome” in Swakopmund where they will prepare before their departure” Mwiya explained. With about 53 nations participating, this will be the first time that the African Games will be hosted by Morocco. Mwiya also mentioned that the Commission is ready to give full support to all the athletes and wished them all the best for the games. “As we speak now, our resources will be at our disposal very soon, so that we can be able to ensure that all logistics are in place. Athletes with disabilities will not be part of these games as their own edition will be hosted in January 2020 at the same venue.
