Botswana sprinter eyes Swakop event

Botswana's 100 and 200m runner Rifilwe Murangi says she is ready to challenge Namibians in the third leg of the Narib Track and Field Golden Spikes competition in Swakopmund this weekend. Rifilwe Murangi, who has been in the country for a week, says she came early to acclimatize with the weather as she is aiming for a spot on the podium. “I am here to compete and want to win as well as improve my personal best record. This will be the first time that I am participating in this championships and it will be a good opportunity to compete with others from the region” Murangi said. The Narib track and field golden spikes is the brainchild of Namibian runner Ernst Narib, who believes Namibia needs more Athletics championships to keep athletes competitive. The event, which will take place for the first time in Swakopmund, has been scheduled for Saturday at the Vineta Sport Stadium.
