The Civilians beat Tura Magic 4 -3 on penalties after a one all draw in 90 minutes to book their ticket to the last four of the Debmarine Namibia Cup semifinals. Brian Isaacs’s side opened the scoring through their striker Matheus Halupe, as he benefited from a loose ball in the box after Magic failed to clear from a corner kick. Halupe was cool under pressure and calmly put the ball pass the helpless Mervin Kasetura in Tura Magic goal. The goal, was enough to give the Khomasdal based team a one goal lead at half time. Tura Magic Coach James Britz half time team talk seems to have worked in the second half as Tura Magic came back a better team. Magic’s best chance felt to Junias Theophelus who missed from close range with only the goalkeeper to beat. Civics defenders were putting their bodies on the line as they looked to protect their one goal lead. It was not to be as Theophelus header from the corner kick beat the defenders and Edward Maova on the line to make it one all. By: Chester Uamunika Magic were encouraged to go on and win the game but Civics hanged on and the game ended one all and had to be decided by penalties shootout. Civics scored their opening three penalty kicks before Tura Magic’s Oswaldo Xamseb missed the third for Magic. Magic Goalkeeper Mervin Kasetura came to his team rescue when he saved Civics fourth taking the match to the last kick. Donald Geiseb scored his final kick to give Civics the advantage and it was all down to Magic’s captain Charles Hambira who missed his kick and gave Civics a 4-3 penalties victory. Tura Magic Coach James Britz was very disappointed with the result but he felt that he had very inexperienced team this season. “I think our team will do well next season if we keep this players together and I did fairly well as a coach in my first season at the highest level of Namibian Football.” Civics coach Brian Isaacs was over the moon with his team performance and told NBC sport that the victory will help the team’s confidence to win their two remaining league games. “I think now that we are in the semifinals we will have a good chance of going all the way and win the trophy.” Said Isaacs. The victory was a sweet revenge for Civics as they lost to Magic at the same stage of this competition last year in Gobabis. Civics will turn their attention on efforts to try and secured their Premier League status against Blue Waters and Eleven Arrows next week.
