Game time crucial for Brave Warriors ahead of Mozambique game- Mannetti

Windhoek- Earlier on Monday during a press briefing at Soccer House in Windhoek, Brave Warriors coach Ricardo Mannetti announced a 29-men squad for a two-week training camp. The camp is set up on preparation for the friendly game against Botswana on the 30th of September, as well as for the AFCON qualifier against Mozambique in October. U/23 players make up the majority of the squad, but only some will actually be playing in the friendly on the 30th. ”The friendly match is for game purposes for the local players. The first team of players will be featuring in that match and not the u/23 players. The u/23 might come in from the bench if need be, but the focus is to give the senior players proper game time, so that we can prepare them for match fitness to go into the Mozambique game” Mannetti explained. Ronald Ketjijere will lead the team, with Petrus Shitembi as vice captain. Mannetti believes that winning in Botswana is secondary, but match fitness is priority. ”In order to qualify, you need to put match fitness first to make sure these players get a little bit of game time and thus get a closer to the player that plays week in week out. Game time first and secondly results for me for the Botswana game” he said. The NFA is planning to set up the camp after the Botswana game by the 7th in South Africa , as it’s logistically easier for the FA because there are a lot a players playing professional football in South Africa. On the absent domestic league, Mannetti said this provides for a difficult situation. “People should understand how difficult it is to prepare a team under such conditions. A situation where there’s no league is never good. It makes things very difficult for me, that’s why the NFA had to take out extra money to have preseason camps” he added. The squad is made up as follows: 1. Ratanda Mbazuvara 2. Uzuva Vipua Tjimune 3. Abel Paulus Amenenge 4. Larry Horaeb 5. Vitapi Punyu Ngaruka 6. Emilio Martin 7. Donovan Kanjaa 8. Kennedy Eib 9.
